Becoming a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO)
On Thursday, 11th April 2024, during an Extraordinary General Meeting, the Society's members passed five resolutions to enable the Society to become a SCIO.
The initial phase of this process involves applying to OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) for the establishment of a charity named Scottish Genealogy Society (SCIO).
UPDATE: 14th June 2024: OSCR have approved our application.
Our new charity name is Scottish Genealogy Society (SCIO) and our new charity number is SC053432. We will now begin the process of transferring all our assets to the new charity.
